EDforTech Future Innovator Camps 2023 - Tackling Summer Learning with a Measure of Fun!

This summer in San Diego, over 200 students attended EDforTech Alliance (ETA) STEM Camp opportunities with Logan Heights CDC at the University of San Diego, The Perkins Academy K-8 School in East County, the Feaster Charter School in South County, and the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians in North County. This turnkey program offers robust and engaging educational opportunities, all while having fun! Programs were funded by Level UP Grants and Extended Learning Grants through the San Diego Foundation with our partners at Logan Heights CDC and the Classroom of the Future Foundations (CFF).

Each program focused on unique attributes found in their communities and cultures. For instance, the San Pasqual Indian students focused on traditional uses of water in their tribe. They then compared and contrasted this with water uses and programs from the San Diego County Water Authority.

Campers received Certificates of Award in Engineering Design and Computer Science from the University of California at San Diego Extension.

EDforTech STEM Camps offer a comprehensive summer learning program that can be tailored to the unique needs of your schools. EDforTech’s academic model is designed to address the learning gap for every student, reinforcing essential skills and developing strengths.

It addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of your students and their families by incorporating academic instruction focused on core subjects and enrichment activities featuring coding/robotics family support elements.

This summer, we had academic enrichment activities in the mornings to foster grade-level language arts and math proficiency and STEAM/Robotics in the afternoons for a full day camp.  Activities included fun science projects, field trips, and STEM industry experiences (Northrop Grumman, Atomic Energy, US Navy, Midway Museum, Illuminate, Riverside County Office of Forensics, and Porpoise Robotics). Each camp ended with a capstone event for parents to learn about what their kids experienced directly from each group during the summer!
