ISTE 2022: EDforTech, mTiny, and Empowering Educators

Last month, we had the opportunity to go to the great city of New Orleans and attend the ISTE conference. From June 26-29, 2022, we met and connected with so many wonderful educators. We talked about curriculum, after-school programs, professional development, and all kinds of ways to enhance learning and teach STEM better.

ISTE is the International Society for Technology in Education, “home to a passionate community of global educators who believe in the power of technology to transform teaching and learning, accelerate innovation and solve tough problems in education.”

Exploring Expeditions with MTiny Robots (Screen-free)

We know STEM can be intimidating for students and how important it is to expose kids to STEM concepts early to ease that hesitation. Therefore, we had the mTiny robot on display and shared how its screen-free technology is fun, engaging, and easy to implement.

We have beginner-friendly and turn-key ready curriculum for teachers and students making teaching and learning a lot more fun. Develop early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills with hands-on robot expedition activities in the 20+ lessons available for K-2 educators. mTiny is a fun animated robot that is driven with a remote control that easily fits in the small hands of early learners.mTiny is great for early learners with its ability to:

  • Control the robot using direction cards and a hand-held remote.
  • Use robot facial expressions and stories to engage in social-emotional learning.
  • Develop early literacy and numeracy skills with counting, following direction, reading stories, and hands-on activities.
  • Introduce sequence and coding concepts. By connecting the coding cards and tapping each one in sequence, students learn to control the direction and movement of the robot.

At ISTE, we hosted six raffles during our booth activities and we’d like to extend a Congratulations to our teachers who won a robot during those activities! We’ve found that utilizing the robots in lessons is an effective way to integrate STEM concepts in the classroom. We look forward to seeing them in action at your school!

Empowering the Next Generation

Our mission is to make STEM accessible and available to all students and school districts. We work with teachers and educators as they prepare the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technology professionals who will be solving the world’s problems. Our curriculum encourages students to play and be creative as they learn to code and design the future.

In addition to our STEM curriculum, we offer Professional Development training and workshops, STEM Lab Kits, and Academy STEM Camp Courses available for school, after-school, summer sessions, or enrichment programs. We also offer college credits and CEUs to teachers via San Diego University Extension.
